North Norfolk
There is a huge amount to do and see along the North Norfolk coast. Whether
you are interested in Wildlife and Geology, History or Shopping and
Entertainment. Staying at Belgrave house you will be ideally situated to
explore Hunstanton and the surrounding area and if you should need pointing
in the right direction just ask your hosts who will be only too happy to
help.
History
There are certainly no shortage of historic Edwardian buildings to be seen
in Hunstanton and if you are interested in architecture we suggest you start
by taking a walk through our historic town. The town which was envisaged by
Henry Styleman Le Strange retains some lovely old buildings, one of the
oldest being the Golden Lion Hotel built in 1846.
Further along the cliffs you will come to the ruins of St Edmunds Chapel
(1272) and next to this is the lighthouse which dates back to 1844.
Further inland you will come to Sandringham, this lovely house and gardens
are used often by the royal family. You can take a stroll around the gardens
and the museum. (but if your a bit squeamish watch out for the trophy room)
Ten minutes drive down the road is the historic town and port of Kings Lynn,
dating as far back as the 12th Century and originally known as Bishops Lynn.
Take a guided tour around this ancient town and if your here at the right
time of year you could even try a ghost walk!
